After having served as Vice-Chairman since 2016, on Tuesday evening Jack Lopresti MP became Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Defence and Security Issues. He hopes to continue the successes of this group and, along with his colleagues elected to the committee, Jack looks forward to organising some informative events for the members.
Our area is world renowned in the defence and aerospace industry, with the latest developments for our armed forces coming from BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and MoD Abbey Wood. Jack shall use his Chairmanship of this APPG to promote our ingenuity and to showcase our constituency as the choice for any future investment.
As a veteran, Jack is a passionate supporter of the defence and security industry as those who choose to serve and make sacrifices to protect our freedoms and way of life deserve to have the latest equipment when on duty. The knowledge he gains from hosting defence specialists with this APPG will be used to help him campaign for our armed forces as your MP.
His excitement for taking on this role is tinged with sadness with it coming after the retirement of Sir Gerald Howarth, who was not only a great advocate for defence of the realm and our servicemen and women as a MP but also a very worthy Chairman of the Defence and Security Issues APPG. Jack hopes that he can build on his legacy and keep this a vibrant, active group.
