When Jack returned to Westminster in September, among his immediate priorities was making progress with my inquiries into how incidents involving the traveller community are handled after recent events at the Tumps and Forty Acres.
Jack has asked written questions to the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government, and will be meeting with the Police & Crime Commissioner to review the police response. I asked the Home Secretary what steps she is taking to ensure that police forces and Chief Constables enforce Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 after constituents complained that the police force were not acting on complaints they were making. Jack has also asked the Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government his opinion of the transit site provision in South Gloucestershire.
Jack will also be meeting with the Police & Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable of Avon & Somerset Constabulary to review the police response after local residents also raised concerns that reports of criminal activity were not acted upon.
He will keep constituents updated about any progress that is made tackling these issues.
