In September, Jack visited the University of the West of England to meet new and returning students at their Freshers Fair. The President of the Students’ Union, Zain Choudry, informed Jack that UWE Freshers Fair is one of the largest in the country with lots of exciting opportunities for students to get involved with societies and charities.
Whilst at the Frenchay Campus, Jack met student members of the Bristol Universities Officer Training Corp and talked to them about how the skills they have learnt on training exercises have transferred and aided their lives as students.
After spending the morning talking with students, Jack said "Students make an overwhelming contribution to our local community, with many getting involved with groups off campus. Through my work with the Stoke Gifford Royal British Legion, I was fortunate to meet UWE student Zak Ajjane, who was recently awarded the RBL Gloucestershire County Certificate of Appreciation for his years of service."
