Today Jack attended the launch of Stoke Gifford Royal British Legion annual Poppy Appeal. As has become traditional, the launch was held at Bristol Parkway Station, and was well attended by Stoke Gifford Scout Group, Royal British Legion Riders, local Air Cadets, and Brian Cumming MBE, a Chelsea Pensioner who was in attendance to give his support to the events. The launch was signalled by the cutting of a ribbon by Parkway Station Manager Linda Swainger.
Stoke Gifford Royal British Legion have set themselves a target of beating the £49,000 they raised from last years appeal. The money is raised to provide help and support to military veterans and their families across the country. Volunteers will be out in force in the local area over the next two weeks.
After attending the launch, Jack commented 'I was honoured to be able to help launch this years Stoke Gifford Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at Parkway Station today. The branches volunteers do a fantastic job every year, and I would like to thank them for their efforts.'
John Moloney, Stoke Gifford Royal British Legion Chairman said, 'we must continue in our endeavour to make sure the welfare of our Armed Forces continues after they left and also whilst serving. We want to improve on last year's Poppy Appeal with all the assistance we can get. Can you spare two hours of your time between Saturday 29 October and Sunday 13 November between the hours of 0900 and 1700 hours in Asda Filton, Sainsbury's East Filton, Parkway Station and the Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke.'
