On Saturday afternoon Jack popped across to Severn Beach for the first Severn Beach Festival. With events for the children on the beach and lots of entertainment from local choirs and groups, it was heartening to see a fantastic turnout for the inaugural festival and Jack hopes to see it go from strength to strength each year. Jack even managed to stock up his book collection from one the many stalls.
Jack was so inspired by the community spirit on display at Severn Beach Festival that he wrote an article for In\View magazine about why events that bring family and friends together are so important.
In that article jack said “We are lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and are fortunate to be surrounded by some of the best natured people I have ever met, who volunteer to give so much of their own time to create a welcoming community for us to live in. The organisers of the Severn Beach Community Festival worked hard and brought joy to so many people. On the same day I also attended two other local community events and saw friends and families out in force, and each year these events only seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Every weekend neighbours come together for fetes, coffee mornings and charity fundraisers because we have a fantastic community spirit that I have never seen surpassed.
So, whilst world events may give us cause for concern, it is important to remember that across local towns and villages we have a great sense of community that brings out the best in all of us and makes our area the place I am proud to call home.”
