Following its successful launch in 2016, the search for the 2018 Parliamentary Pub Chef Award has begun. Organised by the British Beer Pub Association, Nestle Professional, and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, the awards seek to recognise one of the hundreds highly skilled chefs that work in nation’s pubs.
Furthermore, pubs can be excellent community hubs, with many now offering alternative services such a village shops and rooms for community groups to meet. The pub trade also supports over 900,000 livelihoods and the kitchen hierarchy offers job progression as an alternative route for school leavers not going to university.
This campaign began when the British Beer Pub Association, the British Institute of Innkeepers, and the Perceptions Group launched the Pub Chef Passion initiative after it was discovered there was a national shortage of pub chefs. After a great reception for their cause, the idea of officially recognising the stars of the profession to create role models for aspiring chefs spawned into the Parliamentary Pub Chef Award.
“I am passionate about the recognising those who make the difference” said Jack, “ If you know someone who goes the extra mile and stands out then I want to make sure they have a chance to know their effort doesn’t go unnoticed. We have lots of great pubs in our communities so please let me know if your local pub has an excellent chef serving amazing food”
