On Friday, I joined residents in Staple Hill for lunch at the Community Hub in Berkeley House. The lunch club is one of several groups that meet at the Community Hub with the aim of bringing together local residents, local businesses, voluntary organisations and community groups.
Following the recent news that Cribbs Sports and Social Club and Holy Trinity Primary School had been successful in their Aviva Community Fund applications, I visited Aviva’s headquarters in Stoke Gifford to learn more about their work within our community.
At Housing, Communities and Local Government Questions this week, I asked the Minister of State, Dominic Raab MP, whether he agreed with me that the ability to buy a home at an affordable price is vital to develop and enhance social mobility.
Last Friday I visited Little Stoke Primary School to speak to their Year 6 class about being a Member of Parliament. It was great to see that the children were enthusiastic about finding out about the role of an MP and had been enjoying learning about government in their lessons.
This week I visited BizSpace’s latest site in Bradley Stoke to see their range of bespoke office spaces. Having invested £2.9 million, BizSpace are hoping to become a new enterprising hub for the community and work closely with Business West to support local entrepreneurs.
