CONSERVATIVES INCREASE POLICE NUMBERS
8 July 2009South Gloucestershire Conservative Councillors have increased the Police numbers by paying for 5 extra Police Community Support Officers in South Gloucestershire.
Neighbourhood policing teams in Filton and Bradley Stoke will be strengthened by the addition of a council-funded PCSOs.
Your local Conservatives are investing an additional £150,000 to double the Council-funded uniformed police profile locally in response to concerns about community safety, anti-social behaviour and other forms of crime across the district.
The new officers will be deployed to reinforce partnership working between the Council and the Police in the local fight against crime.
Local Conservative councillors for Filton Brian Freeguard and David Bell said:
“Residents regularly raise issues of antisocial behaviour with us and we keep on hearing how crime is set to worsen because of the economic downturn. Increasing our neighbourhood police team with a council-funded PCSO is welcome as the Police figures show that Filton’s crime rate is higher when compared with the average for South Gloucestershire.”
